Front Facade: | Before you stands a sturdy, rectangular building constructed of misty grey granite surrounded on three sides by a chest-high palisade of elegantly traceried stonework enclosing an open court. Numerous floor-to-ceiling narrow windows look to provide the interior ample light, while from an elaborate balcony running the length of the front face on the topmost story is draped a lavender banner declaring House of Serenity and showing the House coat-of-arms - a half-opened scroll with an amaranth lying atop it. You also see a traceried gate with a symbol of five conjoined circles decorating its center. Obvious exits: (Whatever is appropriate to street direction here). |
1. Haven Court: | Room Type: Common, open to General Public, external courtyard, noded
5 entrances/exits: Main Gate 1 - entry to/from street located south from within Court itself (usage within Room Desc - traceried gate), West Gate 2 - entry to/from street located west from within Court itself, Basement Stairs 3 - entry to/from (stair direction down) below street entrance to Locker Area on Basement Level located northwest within Court itself (usage within Room Desc - stone stairway), Main Door 4 - entry to/from main house via Main Foyer located north from within Court itself (usage within Room Desc - traceried door), East Gate 10 - entry to/from street located east from within Court itself. Room Desc: The enclosed court is paved with pale grey cobblestones and surrounded on three sides by a chest-high palisade of elegantly traceried stonework. In the center of the court is a small patch of bright red-purple flowers surrounding a reflecting pool. To the north stands a massive traceried door guarded by the House of Serenity Doorkeeper, to the northwest is a stone stairway leading down below street level, while to the south is a traceried gate with a symbol of five conjoined circles decorating its center. Obvious exits: east, west. Exam Desc: Flower Patch: Though not the transcendent ones of legend, these beautiful common amaranths lend their fine color and sweet scent freely with all who care to partake of their sensual splendor. Reflecting Pool: The reflecting pool gives the illusion - upon first glance - of being only water but, upon closer inspection, shows itself in truth as a well of shimmering magical energy - a reservoir of mana. (SPECIAL NOTE: Amaranths in the Flower Patch should be able to be picked and taken.) |
2. Main Foyer: | Room type: Common, open to Members and Guests only, internal foyer
5 entrance/exit: Main Door 4 - entry to/from main house via Court located south from within Foyer itself (usage within Room Desc - traceried door), Founders' Room Door 5 - entry to/from Founders' Room located west from within Foyer itself (usage within Room Desc - narrow entree), Discussion Hall Door 1 - entry to/from Discussion Hall located east from within Foyer itself, Second Floor Stairway 2 - entry to/from (stair direction up) Second Floor Hallway on Second Level located northeast from within Foyer itself (usage within Room Desc - traceried stairway), Library Door S 3 - entry to/from Library located north from within Foyer itself. Room Desc: The foyer, constructed of pale grey marble, features a ceiling of traceried stone crosspieces which provides a partial view of the upper floor hallway above. In the very center of the foyer stands a larger-than-life-size statue of the Goddess Lumnis, also composed of grey marble. Red-purple amaranth blooms stand tall in many marble pots. To the west is a narrow entree decorated with lavender markings and bearing a sign giving notice Entry to House Officers Only. To the northeast a traceried stairway leads up to the second floor, while to the south stands a massive traceried door. Obvious exits: north, east. Exam Desc: Lumnis Statue: Carved of pale grey marble, the statue nonetheless seems to possess a hauntingly lifelike quality. The eyes - artistically tinted with a lavender hue - are soft and intelligent, the mouth gentle and smiling. A half-open scroll droops from the fingers of her right hand, while a red-purple amaranth is held within the fingers of her left. Grey Marble Pot: One particular flower receptacle bears around the circle of its lip an engraving which reads: A little instruction never hurts, or hurts much anyway. 3. Founders' Room: | Room type: Private, open to House Officers, Officer (Deaconry/Priesthood)

2 entrance/exit: Founders' Room Door 5 - entry to/from Foyer located east from within Founders' Room itself (usage within Room Desc - narrow entree), Chapel Door 6 - entry to/from Chapel located north from within Founders' Room itself (usage within Room Desc - stained-glaes portal). Room Desc: From this room it seems the daily business of the House is run. It is marked by efficiency. Several dark wood desks are set in various corners with traceried chairs of matching dark wood set behind them. A soft lavender rug covers the floor. In the northwest corner of the room a tall curio contains several interesting items, including a representation in cut red-purple crystal of an amaranth bloom. To the east is a narrow entree decorated with lavender markings. To the north lies a stained-glaes portal, fine traceried stone intricately connecting the wedges of various shades of purple glaes. Obvious exits: none. Exam Desc: Curio: The dark wood curio reaches nearly from floor to ceiling in height, though only about two feet wide. Panes of pale lavender glaes provide a peek at the treasures within, including numerous scrolls and a finely-detailed red-purple cut crystal representation of an amaranth blossom. Cut Crystal Amaranth: This finely detailed work of the crystal maker's art is superb in both conception and construction. The red-purple petals of the bloom seem almost too fragile to touch, while the green stem and leaves show the same patterns as the natural veins of the living version of the flower. 4. House Chapel: | Room type: Common, open to Members and Guests only, internal room
3 entrance/exit: Chapel Door 6 - entry to/from Founders' Room located south from within Chapel itself (using within Room Desc - stained-glaes portal), Library Door SW 7 - entry to/from Library located east from within Chapel itself, Honeymoon Suite Door 8 - entry to/from Honeymoon Suite located north from within Chapel itself (usage within Room Desc - dark wood door). Room Desc: The confines of the chapel are hushed and serene. A small altar of grey marble - amaranth petals strewn upon its surface - is niched within the northwest corner, billowy drapes of a lavender gossamer material surrounding it. Flags of lavender marble compose the flooring, while a floor-to-ceiling narrow stained-glaes window offers a focus in the west wall. Numerous votive candles, in all shades of purple, reside on several intricate silverwork stands, softly lighting the room. To the south lies a stained-glaes portal, while to the north stands a discreet dark wood door with a deep purple glaes handle. Obvious exits: east. Exam Desc: Stained-glaes Window: The window bears an excellent depiction of the Goddess Lumnis in her human manifestation, a scattering of amaranth blooms clustered about her hidden feet. The detailing is so fine, even the swirling within the bits of glaes forming her grey robes seems to allude perfectly to their misty quality. Atmosphere: The room is filled with the pleasant scent of light incense, burning beeswax candles and sweet amaranth petals. (SPECIAL NOTE: The ability to place votive candles, procured from a clerics' shoppe, upon a silverwork stand would be a nice touch.) |
5. Honeymoon Suite: | Room Type: Private, open to Members and Guests only through arrangement
with House Officers, internal room
3 entrance/exit: Honeymoon Suite Door 8 - entry to/from Chapel located south from within Honeymoon Suite itself (usage within Room Desc - dark wood door), Library Door NW 9 - entry to/from Library located east from within Honeymoon Suite itself (usage within Room Desc - chased silver door), Back Door 10 - entry to/from street located north from within Honeymoon Suite itself (usage within Room Desc - crossbeamed door). Room Desc: This pleasantly appointed room was obviously designed with comfort in mind. A deep purple rug of a soft wool covers the floor, while chased silver crossbeams provide the ceiling a unique look. A gigantic sleigh bed of chased silver occupies the center of the room. Numerous pillows and a down comforter, all of rich purple silk, cover the bed. A large fireplace of grey flagstone, a two-tiered chased silver cart set before it, takes up most of the west wall. A discreet dark wood door to the south, an elaborately chased silver door to the east, and a heavy crossbeamed door to the north seem to guarantee absolute privacy. Obvious exits: none. Exam Desc: Fireplace: The grey flagstones of the fireplace are carved with numerous sets of initials bound within hearts, making you want to add those of you and your love to the tally. Chased Silver Cart: The upper tier of this lovely cart offers items to provide bodily refreshment. While on the lower tier can be seen several enticing, though better left undescribed, items meant to provide bodily titillation. Touchable Objects: Fireplace, flagstone, grey; Sleigh Bed, chased silver; Comforter, silk, purple. Items on Cart (upper tier): sparkling sylvan champagne; fresh ripe strawberries. (SPECIAL NOTE: All doors should be latchable from inside. This room uses a key entry system, with key provided by House Officers. Fireplace should be scripted to burn wood.) |
6. Library: | Room Type: Common, open to Members and Guests only, internal room
4 entrance/exit: Library Door S 3 - entry to/from Foyer located south from within Library itself, Library Door NE 4 - entry to/from Annex located northeast from within Library itself (usage within Room Desc - grey modwir door), Library Door SW 7 - entry to/from Chapel located southwest from within Library itself , Library Door NW 9 - entry to/from Honeymoon Suite located northwest from within Library itself (usage within Room Desc - chased silver door). Room Desc: This impressively massive library is dedicated to the Goddess Lumnis. Alternating slabs of grey and lavender marble comprise the floor, while numerous floor-to-ceiling grey modwir bookcases contain as much knowledge as can be gathered by the Founders in the Wise Goddess' name. Several grey modwir reading tables surrounded by matching chairs provide a place for the harried scholar to study in peace. A small modwir armory table seems to display a particularly appealing if eclectic array of scrolls. You also see an elaborately chased silver door and a grey modwir door. Obvious exits: south, southwest. Exam Desc: Armory Table: The small table of grey modwir bears a neat silver plaque on its surface on which are etched the words: Life is the lesson and you are both student and teacher. Special Items: Armory Table - small communal locker for storage of scrolls. Atmosphere: The hushed sound of rustling paper catches your attention briefly before it dissipates into silence once more. |
7. Library Annex: | Room Type: Private, open to Members only, internal room
2 entrance/exit: Library Door NE 4 - entry to/from Library located west from within Annex itself (usage within Room Desc - grey modwir door), Mediation Chamber Curtain 7 - entry to/from Mediation Chamber located east from with Annex itself (usage within Room Desc - striped velvet curtain). Room Desc: This small, private room is devoted to personal study. The floor is carpeted by a thick grey wool rug, muffling all sound. Two grey velvet overstuffed chairs face a small fireplace installed within the north wall. A grey marble mantle tops the fireplace, while a framed needlepoint sampler hung above the mantle proclaims in rich purple thread: Use all you learn wisely and well. A plain silver cart is set just to the left of the fireplace. Set to the west is a grey modwir door, while to the east hangs a lavender-and-grey striped velvet curtain. Obvious exits: none. Touchable Objects: Rug, wool, grey; Chairs, velvet, grey, two; Mantle, marble, grey. Items on Cart: warm buttered bread; elegant tea cakes; tasty finger sandwiches; steaming hot coffee; honey lemon tea; bottles of milk; Library finest brandy; aged dwarven port. 8. Petition Mediation Chamber: | Room Type: Common, open to Members and Guests only, internal room
3 entrance/exit: Mediation Chamber Curtain 6 - entry to/from Annex located west from within Mediation Chamber itself (usage within Room Desc - striped velvet curtain), Discussion Hall Archway 7 - entry to/from Discussion Hall located south from within Mediation Chamber itself (usage within Room Desc - silver-studded archway), Digression Hermitage Door 8 - entry to/from Digression Hermitage located east from within Mediation Chamber itself (usage within Room Desc - paneled oak door).. Room Desc: This functionally if starkly furnished chamber gives the no-nonsense impression of justice being served. A long table of grey modwir takes up practically the entire north end of the room. Behind this table are set five simple modwir chairs with high backs and lavender velvet cushioned seats. Matching chairs with lower backs fill the room. Several scatter rugs in patterns of grey and all shades of purple lie here and there on the otherwise bare grey modwir floor. A lavender-and-grey striped velvet curtain, a silver-studded archway and a paneled oak door provide access to the chamber. Obvious exits: none. Atmosphere: The low buzz of anxiously whispering voices is occasionally interrupted by the sharp clap of a gavel demanding complete silence. |
9. Five Conjoined Circles Discussion Hall: | Room Type: Common, open to Members and Guests only, internal room

Room Desc: This open hall is large and filled with natural light. Grey modwir benches occupy most of the hall, and a grey modwir podium studded with silver tracings stands at the far west end. A large silver plaque, set above the numerous windows and running the full length of the south wall, proclaims boldly in fancy etched letters: Seek Knowledge Sagaciously in Her Care and, through Her Guidance, Find the Serenity of True Wisdom. On the floor of deep purple flagstone is carved a symbol of five conjoined circles. You also see a sturdy a silver-studded archway and a modwir paneled door. Obvious exits: west, down.
